Champions Home

The Champions Home is the heart of the City of Refuge Champions Home Ministries, a place where faith, love, and compassion come together to give children a new beginning. It was created to provide care, education, and family life for children who had lost parents or had been abandoned, abused, or left without hope.

The story began when Rev. Jackson and Mrs. Harriet Quenisear answered God’s call to care for vulnerable children. After returning to Liberia, they prayed and worked to build a home that would serve as a refuge for those in need. Through the kindness of Touch The World Ministries (TTWM), the Ken DeWitt family, and Liberia Mercy Partners (LMP), a home for children was completed in Bellemu, Bong County.

On December 14, 2011, the Quenisear family moved into the home with seven children. It quickly became a place filled with laughter, learning, and healing. A month later, a visiting medical team of 27 Americans and Liberians led by Mr. Ken DeWitt held a medical outreach that served more than 700 people from nearby communities in Bong and Nimba Counties and even from neighboring Guinea.

During that outreach, a young girl named Princess N. Kollie was brought to the team. She had been physically and emotionally abused and rejected. She was welcomed into the home as the first child from Bellemu, marking a turning point for the ministry. Her story became a living example of the mission of the Champions Home — to love, restore, and raise children who had been forgotten by the world but not by God.

Since then, the Champions Home has grown into a nurturing environment where children receive education through Hidden Eye College, spiritual guidance through the City of Refuge Church, and daily care from dedicated house parents and staff. Many of the children have gone on to excel in school, pursue higher education, and become examples of faith and strength in their communities.

The Champions Home continues to stand as a reminder that God’s love transforms lives. It is not only a home but also a movement of hope, where every child is valued and given a chance to thrive in a family of faith.
