Hidden Eye College
The vision of Hidden Eye College (HEC) began with a simple desire to give children a chance to learn and grow in faith and knowledge. The journey started on March 7, 2012, when Rev. Jackson and Mrs. Harriet Quenisear began homeschooling seven children under a thatch kitchen that had been built earlier for medical outreach. What began as a small effort filled with faith soon grew into a lively community of young learners.
Later that same year, the small kitchen school near Bellemu Village expanded into a modest structure meant for thirty students. To everyone’s amazement, more than eighty-three children came to learn. Two additional thatch classrooms were added to make space for the growing crowd. The early years were guided by dedicated volunteer teachers, including Gweta Siakor, Daryan M. Quenisear, Mrs. Harriet B. Quenisear, and Ophantin Konisear, who served faithfully between 2012 and 2015. Ophantin became the first principal of HEC, followed by Daryan Quenisear, who led from 2013 to 2016, except during the Ebola crisis of 2014.
As enrollment increased, God continued to provide. Through the generosity of the Ken DeWitt family, working with Liberia Mercy Partners (LMP), the first two modern school buildings were constructed by Sam O. Gortor and his team and dedicated in 2012. Though the classrooms had rough floors and palm logs for seats, they were filled with joy, hope, and determination.
In 2013, a larger school building was added. It included a computer lab and ten separate bathrooms for boys and girls. The project was funded by Tami DeWitt Marvin, daughter of Ken DeWitt, and built by Pewee Johnson and his team. Even then, palm logs still served as benches, a reminder of how far faith and perseverance had carried the school.
Today, Hidden Eye College stands as a thriving elementary, junior, and senior high school with modern facilities, committed teachers, and a Christ-centered curriculum. The school continues to train hearts, minds, and hands, helping young people grow in wisdom, character, and service to God and their communities.
